As we transition from Asian Pacific Islander Month into Pride Month, we invite you to join us in arms for an important series of events nationwide. Being an election year in the US, this year may be the most pivotal time to talk about human rights for all our communities. The LGBTQ+ community and its people are not the only people whose rights are at stake, though we must shine a light on the specific legislative targeting of the community.

While we address the critical issue of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and its impact on our communities, it is equally important to celebrate the love, diversity, and joy that flourish within us. This Pride Month, as we stand in solidarity against discrimination, let us also embrace the vibrant tapestry of identities that make our communities unique. Our events are platforms for advocacy and celebrations of the myriad ways love manifests in our lives. Whether you’re joining us for one of our virtual panels and webinars or attending one or more of the many in-person events hosted across the US and Canada, you’re taking one step closer to showing up and building with us.

Rise Up: Igniting Our Response to the National LGBTQ+ Emergency

Join us for a crucial and timely panel discussion during Pride Month 2024 as we confront the urgent need for action against the rising tide of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation sweeping across the nation. Last year marked a historic declaration by the Human Rights Campaign, recognizing a national state of emergency for LGBTQ+ Americans due to the alarming surge in discriminatory bills being signed into law. These legislative assaults not only perpetuate stigma and violence but also enshrine discrimination in our legal system, inflicting profound harm on the mental and physical well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals. Even the debates surrounding these bills tear communities apart, compelling some families to flee their home states as political refugees.

As we anticipate the 2024 legislative session to continue this onslaught, we must unite in solidarity and resilience. Our event aims to inform and mobilize the LGBTQ+ community and our allies, galvanizing support for our fight for equality and justice. Join us as we amplify the voices of leading AAPI and LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations, shedding light on the importance of staying informed and taking action in the face of this existential threat to LGBTQ+ rights.
